Shaker Mountain 2023

Shaker Mountain is a boutique festival in Upstate New York, co-founded by Low Res in 2017. Across three venues and two COVID postponements, it has been our longest-running production — and our most personal.

The brief. Shaker Mountain is self-funded. Every decision was weighed against a tight budget, so the production had to be scrappy with budget and materials — and that restraint became part of the creative direction.

The site. None of the venues were built for shows. Rigging points were limited or non-existent, so stages and lighting were designed around what each space could actually support.

The scale. 2 stages and 22 hours of programming over two and a half days: Friday night, Saturday daytime and Saturday night.

The result. A festival defined by ingenuity rather than spend, and a proving ground for ideas Low Res brings to every production since.
